Jack had thought about the MCI as he’d been walking to PTMC. It was part of his process to consider the details from all the drills they’d done (and hoped they’d never need to implement). That meant when Robby tried to shift the credit to him, he was ready for it.

“It made sense,” he pointed out after he’d swallowed a bite. This was pretty good teriyaki. It made up for the terrible coffee.

“I decided on the walk over that if I ran traffic, that left you free to bounce around from like a ping pong ball on meth like we both knew you’d need to do. Also, it meant I could deal with the other primaries and take that off your shoulders too.”

Obviously Robby was officially Jack’s boss at the Pitt and it might be assumed he should take primary, but they had different strengths and the person best able to handle a sudden transformation from an urban ED to a CSH was Jack.

He shook his head when Robby mentioned that Shamsi's kid had fainted. He couldn't imagine Eileen Shamsi handling that well if she heard about it. Honestly, he wouldn't want to be her kid. That was way too much pressure.

"Isn't she a prodigy of some kind? I'm sure I've heard Shamsi bragging about her in the cafeteria."
